Rolling Stone released their Top 50 Albums of 2011 and guess what? It’s ridiculous!

Click here to check out Rolling Stone’s ludicrous list of the supposed Top 50 Albums of 2011. Certain albums aren’t as high as they should be (St. Vincent, Bon Iver, Kurt Vile, Florence), certain ones are way, WAY higher than they should be (My Morning Jacket, Kanye and Jay-Z, Adele) and certain important albums have been omitted entirely (M83, Neon Indian, The War on Drugs, Atlas Sound). Then there are the choices made by this so-called music publication that make absolutely no sense at all. Paul Simon’s record is number 3? lady gaga at number 6? Tom Morello put an album out this year? Robbie Robertson (number 10) still makes records!?
I guarantee that you will not see a top 10 like this anywhere else in all of music journalism/blogdom this year. It is beyond strange and in no way represents the best albums released this year. At best this is a list of like one middle-aged, casual music fan’s favorite albums of the year that they put together during a Biggest Loser commercial break. Adele at number 1? No. Just no, Rolling Stone. She’s good, but not that good. Normally I’d say everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you guys aren’t. Your opinions have become invalid; your methods unsound. You are spiraling out of control. Can we get Rolling Stone some help please? Where’d Lindsay Lohan go to rehab!?!?
