NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Remember how said my copy of the new M83 record was coming today? Well it came! BUT, and there are two very significant buts here, problems arose.
1. The record lacked the little slip that normally comes with a vinyl album saying “Here’s the code for your free digital download!” Um, excuse me Mute records, but this had better be a joke, or a mistake. Every record label, and I do mean EVERY label, gives you a free download when you buy something on vinyl. Otherwise why would anyone do it? Yeah I love vinyl for the sound quality and big art and physical gratification and all that, but I also like to listen to music when I’m, you know, at work or in the car or on the train or UPSTAIRS. In other words, I don’t always have a turntable and speakers handy so GIVE ME MY DOWNLOAD.
2. Towards the end of “Intro” and the beginning of “Midnight City” there is a big splotch of…..something and every time the needle passes over it, it makes a sound. Not a loud sound, but a clearly discernible TICK……TICK…..TTTHHHTICK…….SHHTTHHICK! EVERY TIME!
These things are unacceptable. I’d probably have sent it back for the lack of a download code in the first place, but the blotch just gives me an extra reason to be pissed.
So, thanks a lot Mute Records and Amazon for FUCKING UP MY RECORD RELEASE DAY! I was looking forward to this for weeks and you ruined it. Fuck you.
