The Sauced Bulletin

Well, it happened just like everyone said it would.  President Obama’s jobs act, something that (if you believe in polls) most Americans actually supported, was killed in congress today by the Republicans.  Not one, NOT ONE, Republican representative would even agree to talk about it, let alone vote for it.  What catty bitches!

This was a bill that, according to this article from noted liberal rag The New York Times, would have created millions of jobs, cut taxes for the middle class, and increased economic growth all over the course of the next year.  Sounds like it would have been great right?  Sounds like something any sane person who gives a shit about the people they govern would vote for right?  Sounds like a bill that contained lots of the same legislation that Republicans have voted for in the past right?  RIGHT!?

Well, despite all that, it was sadly not meant to be.  You see, while President Obama and the democrats fight tooth and nail to help fix this mess, the Republican party is content to just sit back and let the nation implode so they can get one of their own in the white house next year.  Angry citizens protesting in the streets?  The worst economic climate since the 1930s?  Soaring unemployment rates?  That’s not important, people!  What’s important is that there is a young, black, democrat in the oval office who we don’t like and we have to GET HIM OUTTA THERE!  He wants to tax the rich!  HE’S A SOCIALIST!

Joking aside, this all makes me sick to my stomach.  This jobs act would have helped people.  It would have helped the economy, and therefore all of us.  But the Republican party clearly does not want to help us.  They want Obama out of power and that is all.  They act as if there isn’t an entire year between now and the next election, a year that is going to be very difficult for a lot of people because they won’t allow anybody to help us out.  It’s kind of like the old Vietnam war rationale that “we had to destroy the village to save it,” only now America is the village and instead of communists they’re “saving” it from the evil democrats.  They can blame this situation on Obama all they want, everybody knows it’s more Bush’s fault than anybody’s, but it is now clear which side is trying to help, and which side is putting its own selfish political agenda above the suffering of its people.  The worst part is that the Republicans offer no solutions of their own.  Just empty slogans about cutting spending and reducing the reach of government.  Hollow, meaningless words with no action behind them.  How anyone can support this course of action is beyond me.

So that’s it, folks.  We’re all FUCKED thanks to the Republican party.  I hope everyone has their spiked bats and armor-plated motorcycles ready because America is going to be a post-apocalyptic, jobless, Mad Max wasteland any day now.  Have fun ruling that, Republicans!  Oh wait!  You aren’t gonna be ruling SHIT because Obama is going to get reelected.  Does that mean we’re going to go through this for another FIVE YEARS!?!?  Ugh, at least our road warrior country will be more fun than that!

Thanks a lot, Republicans!  You clearly have all of our best interests at heart!
